The legendary Georgian Military Highway, considered one of the world’s most beautiful roads, winds its way up to the village through steep wooded valleys and ravines, eventually crossing the 2,300-meter Cross Pass and descending on the other side. Construction of the Georgian Military Highway began in the early 19th century as the main road across the Caucasus Range. Next, we will explore Tbilisi Old Town, including the Sulfur Baths and Leghvtakhevi Waterfall, located in the district known as Abanotubani. According to legend, this is where King Vakhtang Gorgasali’s falcon fell, leading to the discovery of the hot springs and the subsequent founding of the new capital. After our visit, we will head to Mtskheta, the ancient capital of Georgia, located 20 km from Tbilisi. The main attractions there include the revered Svetitskhoveli Cathedral, an 11th-century temple where the robe of Christ is said to be buried, and the ancient Jvari Monastery, which dates back to the 6th century and is perched on a high rock, beautifully harmonizing with the picturesque nature of the area. At the foot of the monastery, the noisy Mtkvari and Aragvi rivers, two of the most well-known rivers in Georgia, flow nearby.
